New Tech Students Win $5000 Climate Change Grant!

In partnership with Joe Flores, Sacramento Parks & Community Enrichment Commissioner, District 7, students from Sac New Tech entered a Climate Change Project Idea Submission to the Sacramento Bee. More information about the grant competition can be found here.

The students collaborated, researched and selected an idea for a project pitch. Once the idea was established, the students then broke into groups to create slides and videos to pitch their idea. The biggest challenge was that the entire presentation had to be no more than 3 minutes and 20 seconds.

Once the slides and videos were created, the students then had to edit and produce the final product and submit it to the Sacramento Bee.

On December 6th, the winners of the grant were announced and right on the top of the list was….you guessed it, Sacramento New Technology High School!

Take a moment to watch the 3:20 video pitch created entirely by our students.

In the Sunday Edition of the Sacramento Bee, dated December 10th, one can find an article that shares the 3 winners of the grants.

On December 14th the SCUSD School Board recognized and acknowledged the students who participated in this project.

We are so excited to get started on this project so we can share our progress when the reporter from The Sac Bee comes to the school in April 2024.
